Meet Homer
by Steven

Homer was born in Minnesota on Cinco de Mayo (May 5, 2007). He was the first of his 5 siblings to open his eyes. Lazy-smart would be the best word to describe Homer because he knows how to get his way — if he doesn’t want to walk, he won’t walk…
We would draw a crowd every time at Santana Row because everyone would see how Homer walks for 1-2 minutes and then immediately flops to the ground. I would then carry him for some time and retry again without any success. Since Homer was my first puppy I had no clue how to resolve the flopping issue. I had lots of help from trainers at Petsmart.
After two months, Homer could wallk for 20 minutes without flopping. I would always have to look at him and see any signs of “stubbornness” and immediately pull him to avoid him flopping to the ground.
I see Homer as, friend, family and companion. Homer will continuously harass me around 1am each day to go to bed. If I am watching tv, he will jump on me, sit there and then jump down. When I tell him to go to sleep, he would walk to his room, stop and look back at me. The look is almost like to tell me to follow him and sleep also. He will continuously come back and attempt to get my attention until I go to sleep. It works 80 percent of the time.

Breed: English Bulldog
Place of Birth: Minnesota
DOB: May 5, 2007
Nickname: Piggy
Likes: Food, except for cucumbers and cabbages
Pet-Peeves: Baths
Quirky Tid-bit: Always sticks out his tongue when sleeping. Does rasberries with tongue.
Trivia: Bulldogs were first bred in England for the sport of bull baiting, thus the name “bull” dog. This cruel sport was later outlawed in England. But dog lovers helped preserve this breed by breeding them with a much calmer and docile temperament.
English bulldogs today are very friendly, need constant human companionship, extremely loyal and have a strong will of their own :)! They are also popular mascots of dozens of universities, high schools, professional sports teams and the United States Marine Corps.
